Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 3 October 2026

In short

SchoolCart helps parents and carers at the same school pass on school uniform, sports kit and other items their children have outgrown.

We never take payments and we never share members' contact details. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Who we are

SchoolCart is a trading name of DREO Solutions Limited, registered in England & Wales, company number 16303674. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “SchoolCart” mean DREO Solutions Limited.

SchoolCart is an independent marketplace for parents and carers. Schools are not necessarily affiliated with or endorsed by SchoolCart. Seeing a school's name or logo on SchoolCart does not mean the school has approved the site.

Who can use SchoolCart

  • You must be legally able to enter into these terms, and use SchoolCart for your own family's items.
  • You must not use SchoolCart to collect, share or ask for children's personal information, including names, dates of birth, photos or the school a particular child attends.

Your account

  • Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  • One person, one account.
  • Other members see only a short display name (for example “Sarah M.”). We never show your email address, phone number or home address to other members.

How SchoolCart works

  • No payments. SchoolCart does not take, hold or process payments. Buyers and sellers agree any price between themselves and settle up in person.
  • Messages. Members contact each other only through SchoolCart's private messages. Please keep phone numbers, email addresses and home addresses out of listings and messages.
  • Reserving. A buyer can ask to reserve an item. When the seller accepts, the item is reserved for that buyer for 7 days. If it is not collected in that time the reservation ends and the item goes back on sale.
  • Handover. Items are usually handed over on the school run. The seller says which handover options suit them when they list the item.
  • Listings. A listing stays live for 90 days, and you can relist it. You can have up to 20 live listings at once and up to 5 photos on each. A member's first listing is checked by our team before it goes live.
  • Free to use. At the moment SchoolCart is free to use. If that changes we will tell members first, and nothing will start costing money without your agreement.

Your listings and messages

  • You are responsible for what you post. Only list items you own or have the right to sell or give away, and describe them honestly, including their condition, size and any marks or damage.
  • Photograph the item only. Do not include children, faces, name-tapes or badges showing a child's name, or anything that shows your home address.
  • You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive licence to store it, show it on SchoolCart and make copies as needed to run the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies we must keep by law.
  • Items must follow our Prohibited items list.

Buying and selling between members

When you buy or sell on SchoolCart, the agreement is only between you and the other member. We are not a party to it, and we do not check, inspect or guarantee any item or any member.

  • Sellers must make sure items are as described. Buyers should look items over at handover before agreeing to take them.
  • Buying from a private person gives you fewer legal protections than buying from a shop. In general the item must match its description. Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms.
  • Meet in a sensible, public place such as the school gate, in daylight. Never feel pressured to go somewhere you are not comfortable with.
  • If you have reserved an item and can no longer collect it, cancel the reservation so someone else can have it.
  • You are responsible for any tax that may apply to what you sell. Most people selling a few outgrown items will not owe any, but that depends on your own circumstances.

Rules for everyone

Everyone using SchoolCart must follow our Community Guidelines. In particular, you must not:

  • break the law or help anyone else to;
  • harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone;
  • post false, misleading or spam content, or pretend to be someone else;
  • try to take people off SchoolCart to deal elsewhere, or ask for payment details or personal information;
  • scrape, copy or collect members' data, or try to break or overload the site or get around its security;
  • use SchoolCart for business or commercial selling. It is for families passing on their own items.

Reports, moderation and suspension

  • We may review, hold, edit or remove any listing or message that breaks these terms or the Prohibited items list, or that we reasonably think could cause harm.
  • We may warn, suspend or close accounts, with or without notice where there is a safety risk or a serious breach. Where we can, we will explain why.
  • Members can block each other. Blocked members cannot message each other or see each other's listings.
  • If you think a decision was wrong, contact us (see below) and we will look at it again.

Our service

  • We work to keep SchoolCart running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or stop parts of the service.
  • We send email notifications about messages and reservations. You can turn these off in your account settings.
  • Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your information.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that, and as far as the law allows:

  • we are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality or description of items, or for what members say or do, including what happens at a handover;
  • we are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for lost profits or lost opportunities;
  • we are not responsible for problems caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as internet or supplier failures.

Closing your account

You can close your account whenever you like from Account settings. This deletes your profile, listings, messages and other data (see our Privacy Policy). Before you do, cancel any reservations you have made or accepted.

We may end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop offering SchoolCart. Rules that by their nature should carry on (such as the limits on our responsibility) continue after your account ends.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We will put the new version on this page with a new “last updated” date and, for important changes, tell members by email or on the site. If you carry on using SchoolCart after a change, you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
